Your First Visit

How to prepare for your massage?

Little or no preparation is required before getting a massage. Be sure to be bathed, and do not eat just before a massage. In addition, one should not be under the influence of alcohol or non-medicinal drugs.

Where will my massage take place?

Your massage will be in a quiet, comfortable massage therapy treatment room. Soft music will be playing as you lie on a cushioned, heated massage table.

Am I required to be completely undressed?

Undressing will be within your comfort level. Typically, clients are either undressed or wearing undergarments. You will be covered by a sheet and a blanket and proper draping will be used during the treatment.

Will I be covered during the session?

Yes. You will be covered with a sheet and blanket and only the area of the body being worked on will be undraped.

What parts of my body will be massaged?

Your treatment needs will be discussed and this will determine which part of the body will receive work. It might be necessary to work on your neck, shoulders, back, legs, arms, feet or hands.

What should I do during the massage?

Allow your body to sink into the table and relax. Give your mind a rest from thinking. Concentrate on your breathing. Focus in on the area of the body being worked on.

How will I feel after the massage?

You can expect to feel less tension or pain in your body, and a sense of relief. Your mind may be less cluttered with thoughts or worries. It is recommend to drink plenty of water prior to and after your massage. Adequate hydration of the soft tissue is needed before your massage in order for the muscles to soften. Drinking water after your massage will help flush toxins out of your body that were released from tight muscles during the treatment. It is normal to experience soreness for several days after a therapeutic massage session, and a cold compress can be administered for 10-15 mins for assistance with pain relief and healing.
